Re-arranged several screen and printer-based reports to accomodate same. Revamped the CDISKCVT utility to convert previous catalog formats to the new file format. DISKFILL will now handle 4DOS/NDOS file descriptions when copying/moving files. Added a tagging option to DISKFILL to flag duplicate files already catalogged. See DISKFILL appendix in user manual for explanation of benefits. Added /NOTAGALL option to DISKFILL to prevent it from automatically tagging all files in a directory when a new one is read (including at the beginning). Added support for a DISKFILL environment variable. Added /QUIET command line parameter to CATDISK, CATMGR and DISKFILL for silent operation. Changed the function key that activates the automatic comment copy feature in the comment entry/edit screen from <F8> to <F2> to avoid accidentally activating this feature when reaching for the <F9> or <F10> key and hitting <F8> instead. You'll now have to reach farther to make the same mistake. --[ CATDISK V6.21 ]------------------------------------------------------------ When flipping the paper on two sided reports, the first page was being ejected; fixed. The files by archive report is now more consistent with the other reports. --[ CATDISK V6.20 ]------------------------------------------------------------ DISKFILL is now capable of instructing CATDISK to catalog each disk after files have been added to it. DISKFILL can recommend disks for filling from an existing catalog set, allowing more intelligent "backfilling" of existing disks in a collection. Added the ability to catalog a disk from the command line and then exit to DOS when finished. This will allow cataloging operations to be commenced from a batch file or from within another application. Just add /CATALOG to the command line to activate this feature. CATDISK will now convert filenames to upper case when reading a disk. Apparently, some operating environments allow filenames containing lowercase characters to be stored on disk that way. If you have already cataloged disks containing such filenames, simply re-catalog those disks to fix the problem. Added the /DISKCOM parameter to allow CATDISK to override existing file comments in a catalog file with those re-read from disk. The configuration program, CDISKCFG will allow you to set your "colors" on monochrome and black & white systems. CATDISK would miss subdirs with read-only, hidden or system attributes; fixed. Group tagging/untagging by wildcard spec was not working properly; fixed. <Esc> wasn't causing two-sided reports to abort at the paper change prompt; fixed. --[ CATDISK V6.15 ]------------------------------------------------------------ The totals of the full list sorted by filename wasn't showing correctly; fixed. --[ CATDISK V6.14 ]------------------------------------------------------------ DISKFILL did not restore the original file date on the target drive; fixed. Changing a volume label in CATDISK would cause problems with the DOS "Share" utility, causing "Error Reading Volume Label" errors; Fixed. --[ CATDISK V6.13 ]------------------------------------------------------------ When re-cataloging a disk from which all files have been removed, CATDISK would update the summary file, but would not uncatalog the files themselves; fixed. --[ CATDISK V6.12 ]------------------------------------------------------------ Dates in CATDISK and CATLOOK can be displayed as YYYY-MM-DD by adding /ND to your command line options. Added a /NT parameter to CATDISK and CATLOOK to disable the above feature. CATDISK can now suggest a volume label to use when labeling a disk based on the existing volume label for that disk, the last entered volume label, or the last entry in the summary file (in that order of priority). Added a /SV parameter to CATDISK to enable the above feature. Options have been added to the settings & toggles menu to control the above two features. PRINTDOC no longer prints page 1 on the back of the title page, but starts on the next page. Bug in CATMGR: Move or Delete operation would lose the source .DTA file; fixed. --[ CATDISK V6.00 ]------------------------------------------------------------ CATDISK can now print hard copy reports in a two-sided format in order to conserve paper, making it the first environmentally friendly software in terms of its capabilities (as opposed to its packaging!). A new stand alone utility, DISKFILL, has been added to the package. DISKFILL is a menu driven optimal disk fill utility that will automate offloading of files from a subdirectory to floppies and minimize wasted space on the target disks by copying files to them in a "best-fit" order. The menus have been re-worked to accommodate new features, and many options have changed positions. In particular, the reports have been broken out into a separate menu. Please note the changes in the menus before hitting any of the old keys from habit. Added support for 4DOS/NDOS directory comments as well as a command line option to control same. Added support for ARJ and HYPER archive files. Added support for extracting the resolution from GIF89a files. Changed /NZ parameter to /NC and /NZC to /NCC to reflect that these options are no longer exclusive to ZIP files (addition of ARJ files as well). For compatibility with older setups, the old parameters have been retained and will work in the same manner as the new ones. Added a catalog management facility, CATMGR, to copy or move entries between catalogs, as well as bulk-delete entries from a catalog file. The summary report can now be sorted by either alphabetical volume id, or by descending free disk space. Modified CATLOOK to produce this report as well. Added /SF command line option to set default summary screen report type to be sorted by descending free disk space. Added a new report that shows statistics for each disk in the catalog followed by a file list for each disk. Added the ability to screen out certain file specs from being included in cataloging operations (set via CDISKCFG utility). Fixed a problem where the last filename would be missed in the comment import feature. CATDISK now pads comments with spaces to facilitate better compression when archiving your catalog file for storage or when using an on-the-fly compression program such as SQUISH PLUS or STACKER. You can now load files into the comment editor using the existing comment (you can specify just entries with no comment at all) as a search criteria. CATDISK now comes with a menu-driven utility, PRINTDOC.EXE, to facilitate printing documentation and registration forms. Documentation files can be printed in a two-sided format (i.e. on both sides of the page). --[ CATDISK V5.xx ]------------------------------------------------------------ Version 5 has been intentionally skipped due to someone releasing an unauthorized "CATDISK V5.10."
